Frequently asked questions

What is CBD/Cannabidiol?

CBD/Cannabidiol is one of over 100 compounds found in cannabis that belong to a class of molecules called cannabinoids. Of these cannabinoid compounds, CBD is usually present in the highest concentration (along with THC) are therefore the most recognized and studied. Unlike THC, CBD does not cause a high. While many people enjoy the marijuana high, health professionals prefer treatments with minimal side effects. CBD does not produce that "high" effect. One of the most interesting effects of CBD is its ability to interact with other cannabinoids in cannabis, such as THC and CBN, and terpenes. CBD hemp oil is extracted from the cannabis varieties that are naturally abundant in CBD, and low in THC.

What is hemp?

Hemp is not marijuana. Marijuana is not hemp. They each have their own separate uses and benefits. There are different varieties of the cannabis plant and Hemp refers to the non-intoxicating varieties of the Cannabis plant. Both hemp and marijuana come from the same cannabis species, but are genetically distinct and are further distinguished by use, chemical makeup, and cultivation methods. CBD is derived from Hemp that contains only trace amounts of THC (Less than 0.3%). Hemp is grown from specific cannabis varieties that naturally possess higher levels of CBD. These hemp plants produce hemp oil that is naturally rich in cannabidiol. Because organic hemp oil is extracted from high-CBD, low-THC cannabis, it doesn’t produce psychoactive effects the way THC does, will not get you high. Hemp has been known for its industrial and environmental uses and benefits throughout history. Hemp can be used for paper, fuel, oils, medicine, clothing, housing, plastic, rope, and even food. In fact, many of these uses of hemp have been practiced throughout our history for over thousands of years.

Will I get high on CBD?

Simple answer is “NO” You will not get ‘High’ A common misconception in the CBD world is that it can have a similar effect to that of marijuana. It’s an easy mistake to make, given that CBD and THC (the cannabinoid known for its psychoactive properties) come from the same plant. CBD however, is non intoxicating, and will not get you high. Most, if not all CBD products sold, contain little to no THC. CBD and THC both interact with the CB1 receptors in our brain, but unlike THC that binds to these receptors, CBD is a CB1 adversary. It actually blocks any intoxicating effects on the brain. A good way to look at CBD in relation to “getting high,” is that it contains all of the soothing and healing properties of THC but without the high. That is not to say however, that there are no side effects when it comes to taking CBD in high doses. Dizziness and nausea are just a few symptoms related to the cannabinoid, but are often only experienced when exceeding the recommended dose. Click here to learn more about CBD Dosing. Lastly, it’s important to keep in mind that CBD can indeed alter the way you feel, but this does not mean that you are getting high. It is known for its calming, relaxing and anti-inflammatory properties, but as mentioned, contains little to none of the psychoactive ingredient THC. Have any questions? How long does it take to work?

CBD generally takes 20 to 30 minutes to start working but because there isn’t the “high” or euphoria felt when being used, newcomers to CBD are often left unsure on whether or not the CBD is making any difference. Every person and every condition has its own reaction(if any) to CBD. Therefore we suggest starting with a month trial for anyone who is new to determine whether or not CBD works for you.
